Should you make games? (Trust me, being a nerd is fun)
It works as a great creative outlet, something that everybody should have.
Unlike other creative outlets like story's and art, creating a game creates an experience. Watching somebody play the game that you have created is really satisfying. The most satisfying thing in the world is actually playing a multiplayer game that you have made with somebody.
Can you do it? Yes! I think. Not everybody has what it takes, but if you are set on it then you can 100% do it.
Mostly you need the perseverance. Do you have the patience to actually learn how? Could you stick to one project for months or even years without starting a new one? I know that I struggle with this.
Sure, some people might not learn at the same rate, but you can figure it out.
Not everybody should be a programmer. I certainly should, but maybe not you. If there are other people that can do the programming maybe you could focus on learning other things, like making game art or music. Maybe adjusting game feel. In my case I personally am not all that good at making art, sound, good feel, levels, or such. I would be happy to work on the core game code and let others worry about what I consider the hard parts. So, if you are already good at something that isn't coding and want to help create a game, maybe refine that skill in correlation with game creation and find people to make the game with later.
That said, basic coding skills is always appreciated.
Consider if you wish to create games. As I said, it is incredibly rewarding.
